About Anatum Wines
Anatum is a small but complete operation on Falcon View Terrace in the foothills above Watsonville: winery, vineyard and tasting room all on one site in the Pajaro Valley, which the owners point to as the reason they can keep control of every stage.
The focus is Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, drawn from the Santa Cruz Mountains, San Benito County and Monterey County, with some estate fruit grown organically on site and hand harvested.
They are not afraid of the odd departure either, having made a skin-contact Pinot Gris - an orange wine, fermented like a red - which is a rarer thing to find in this appellation than the Pinot and Chardonnay that surround it.
The winery also runs small-lot custom crush for other producers, so the building does more work than its size suggests.
Tastings are at weekends, on a patio with a view, and there is off-street parking in front of the room.
