About Ashes & Diamonds Winery
Ashes & Diamonds was founded by Kashy Khaledi, son of Darioush Winery founders Darioush and Shahpar Khaledi, drawing on his prior career as a creative director for MTV, Live Nation, and Capitol Records. The winery opened in 2017 on a 31-acre former Darioush property along Highway 29, with mid-century modern architecture by Barbara Bestor (her first winery project) and labels designed by Brian Roettinger.
The name comes from a 1958 Polish film, an homage to Khaledi's entertainment-industry background. Founding winemaker Dan Petroski (formerly of Larkmead) set the house style of light-handed, transparent winemaking; the estate is now made by Steve Matthiasson and Diana Snowden, working with roughly 3,000 cases a year of estate Merlot and Cabernet Franc alongside sourced Napa Valley and Santa Cruz fruit.
