About Atalon Winery
Atalon was launched by Jackson Family Wines as a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot label, releasing its first commercial vintage in 1997. Early production was tied to the historic W.S. Keyes ghost winery on Howell Mountain, built in the late 1800s, and the wines came in two tiers, Napa Valley bottlings and bigger-framed Hillside wines drawn from mountain fruit. A Sauvignon Blanc joined the lineup in 2008.
In 2006 the company purchased the former Robert Pecota winery north of Calistoga, in the shadow of Mount St. Helena, to give Atalon a home of its own. The arrangement didn't last: production shifted to Cardinale in Oakville, the brand was wound down, and the Calistoga-area facility now hosts Jackson Family's Spire Collection. Atalon tastings are no longer offered anywhere, and the website is offline.
