About Au Sommet
Au Sommet, 'at the summit', is a partnership between winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett, viticulturist Jim Barbour, and vintner John Schwartz. The estate vineyard sits high on Atlas Peak at roughly 2,100 feet in the Vaca range, planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon with two small blocks of Petit Verdot on rocky, fast-draining ground, and is farmed organically, down to the mobile chicken hutches that work the vine rows.
Production is a single wine each year: an estate Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, 97 percent Cabernet with 3 percent Petit Verdot in the current 2023 release. The inaugural vintage was 2008. There is no tasting room; the wine sells through a mailing list in three-bottle allocations at $750, with hand-signed magnums and five-liter jeroboams offered in limited quantities through the partners' Amuse Bouche office.
