About AuburnJames Winery
AuburnJames Winery is a boutique estate on the Silverado Trail south of St. Helena, founded in 2005 with a handshake between co-founders Matt Ospeck and winemaker James Frost. The winery name pays tribute to both James and Matt's passion for the Auburn Automobile, a celebrated Indiana marque produced from 1903 to 1937 whose cars are now prized by collectors. AuburnJames specializes in artisan Cabernet Sauvignon, Meritage blends, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc sourced from premium Napa Valley vineyards, with most processing done by hand under Jim Frost's meticulous care.
The tasting cottage on the estate grounds is open daily by appointment, with experiences on the deck overlooking the winery, vineyards, and bocce courtyard. The Estate Tasting features five handcrafted wines, while the Portfolio Tasting adds library and winemaker selections. AuburnJames originally operated a popular tasting room and art gallery on Hartz Avenue in downtown Danville before moving operations to Napa Valley full-time. The intimate scale, personal attention, and consistently award-winning wines have earned AuburnJames a devoted following among collectors who appreciate hidden-gem Napa producers.
