Barra of Mendocino

Barra of Mendocino is a family estate in Redwood Valley founded by Charlie Barra, one of the most respected grape growers in Mendocino County history. Charlie planted his first vines in 1955 and spent decades farming what would become one of the region's most celebrated vineyards before launching the family wine label to showcase estate-grown fruit. The winery produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscat Canelli, and other varietals from organically farmed vineyards in the Redwood Valley AVA.

The tasting room on North State Street offers a straightforward, family-run experience where the focus is on honest wines at fair prices. Charlie Barra's pioneering work in sustainable and organic viticulture set the standard for an entire generation of Mendocino growers, and the estate continues to farm without synthetic pesticides or herbicides.
