About Berghold Winery
Berghold Vineyards sits on a Cherry Road estate in the heart of the Lodi appellation, where Joe and Kay Berghold have farmed wine grapes since 1986 and built their winery in 2006 after moving to Lodi from the Bay Area. The family estate spans three contiguous vineyards of roughly 85 acres, planted to Syrah, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Mourvedre, Grenache and Zinfandel.
The winery is best known for its tasting room, which houses one of the largest private collections of American Victorian antiques in the country, from a 26-foot carved mahogany Eastlake bar to a rare mechanical music box the family calls the Jewel of California. Berghold is a family-run, direct-sale operation with a large wine club, and its Crankcase red blend and Footstomp Zinfandel are among its most talked-about bottlings. The estate was named Visit Lodi's Winery of the Year in 2017.
