About Bergström Wines
Bergström Wines is one of the Willamette Valley's most acclaimed producers, founded in 1999 when John and Karen Bergström planted their first vines near Newberg. Their son Josh, who trained in Burgundy, and his wife Caroline now farm around 70 to 85 acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah across three AVAs, all biodynamically.
Committed to biodynamic farming since 2000, the winery stewards five estate vineyards, Bergström, de Lancellotti, Gregory Ranch, Winery Block, and Pré du Col, and also sources Pinot Noir from famed sites like Shea and Temperance Hill, with the large majority of production estate grown. Josh's Burgundian training shows in wines built for freshness and a sense of place: bright, structured Pinot Noirs across multiple single-vineyard bottlings and Chardonnays like the flagship Sigrid, named for his grandmother. Tastings take place by reservation at Ekollon, the family's tasting house in the Chehalem Mountains, where guests explore regenerative, terroir-guided farming amid views over the estate vineyard and its curvaceous barn.
Hours, tasting fees, and reservation policies change with the season, so it is worth checking the winery's website or calling ahead before you visit, especially on weekends. The details on this profile may have shifted since publication, and the producer is always the most authoritative source.
From a tiny acorn a mighty oak will grow.
