About Bjorn Vineyards
The Larson family has called Howell Mountain home for more than four decades. In 2002 they pulled out an aging orchard and planted three acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, and winegrower-winemaker Bjorn Larson has farmed the site ever since. The property is more homestead than showpiece, natural springs, giant redwoods, and resident wildlife share the hill with the vines, and the family, including Bjorn's father Richard, remains directly involved.
The house philosophy is that winemaking should be kept simple: attentive farming and a light hand in the cellar let the vineyard speak. The estate Cabernet shows the mountain's character, wild cherry, chocolate, and what the family calls hints of the forest. Bjorn also makes Sauvignon Blanc. There is no tasting room; everything sells direct through the mailing list on the winery's website.
