Black Ankle rewrote Maryland's ceiling: Ed Boyce and Sarah O'Herron left consulting careers to plant Mount Airy's slopes with obsessive estate discipline, and Crumbling Rock, their Bordeaux blend, became the bottle that made critics take the state seriously, poured in a straw-bale-and-timber tasting room built from the farm itself.
Estate-only conviction and green-built craft earned the mid-Atlantic's deepest respect. Maryland's first growth.
