About Blue Farm Wines
Anne Moller-Racke left Oberwesel, Germany in 1981 intending to work a single California harvest and go home; instead she became Buena Vista's viticulturist, working with legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff, championing Carneros's recognition as an AVA, and founding The Donum Estate, which she built into one of California's top Pinot Noir houses. In 2001 she planted seven acres of Pinot Noir behind her historic blue Victorian farmhouse in Sonoma, designing the vineyard as four clonal blocks meant to produce one complete wine, the seed of Blue Farm.
Blue Farm has grown into Burgundian grand cru-styled Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from five vineyards across five Sonoma County AVAs, from Carneros to Fort Ross-Seaview, including celebrated sites like Gap's Crown and the Martinelli family's Zio Tony, with longtime collaborator Kenneth Juhasz crafting the wines. Production averages just 250 cases or less per wine, offered through a guaranteed allocation program, and the winery stands apart in another way: its team is entirely women.
