About Bokisch Vineyards
Bokisch Vineyards is the German-Czech-heritage family estate of Markus and Liz Bokisch — their surname on California's most celebrated dedicated Iberian variety wine estate. Markus Bokisch trained in Spain before establishing his Lodi estate specifically to produce Tempranillo, Garnacha, Albariño, and other Iberian varieties in the warm Delta wine country.
The estate's conviction — that Lodi's warm days, cool nights, and deep Delta soils create conditions as suitable for Spanish varieties as many Spanish appellations — has been validated by critical recognition: Bokisch's Tempranillo and Garnacha are consistently cited as among California's best expressions of Iberian varieties. Wine Advocate has scored Bokisch's Tempranillo at 90–93 points.
