About Brick Barn Wine Estate
Brick Barn Wine Estate occupies a winegrowing frontier of its own in the far western Santa Ynez Valley, on land Norman Williams first acquired in 1968 that spent decades as an organic farm, ranch and premier Arabian horse operation. Norman and Kathleen Williams planted the 35-acre estate vineyard in 2012, made a first vintage in 2015 and opened the doors in 2018.
The site is distinctive: just ten miles from the Pacific, with a rare south-facing orientation that pairs forceful marine influence with persistent sun. Whites grow in the sandy river basin for assertive aromatics and tenacious acidity, while reds climb an upper highland of rocky loam and limestone, and the lineup runs from estate whites and reds to a dedicated sparkling program.
The showpiece is the tasting room itself, a 1970s barn built for prize Arabian horses and reimagined into one of the county's most striking hospitality spaces, with lounging patios, fireplaces and a giant oak outside. It is open daily into the early evening, with live music several days a week, a walled garden courtyard with lawn games for kids, water bowls for dogs, and picnic space for wine purchasers.
