About Campovida

Campovida, field of life, occupies one of Mendocino's most storied properties: the former Fetzer Valley Oaks food and wine center in Hopland, which drew culinary greats like Julia Child, Emeril Lagasse and John Ash in its 1983-2006 heyday. Husband and wife Gary Breen and Anna Beuselinck purchased the fallow estate in 2011, restored its famous organic gardens and 1890s barns, and reopened it as a working farm, winery and gathering place.

The estate is stewarded with organic practices, producing limited-production, vineyard-designate and rare wines alongside olive oil, honey and lavender from the certified-organic gardens that once boasted thousands of varieties of fruit, herbs and edible flowers. Tastings run Tuesday through Sunday, from fireside flights in the historic 1890 barn to self-guided garden tastings, where a basket of miniature bottles and a printed guide send you wandering among the seasonal blooms at your own pace.

The grounds invite a full afternoon: gardens and a pond to stroll, bocce courts, farm animals, and event spaces that host everything from line dancing in the barn to yoga among the vines. A mile away in downtown Hopland, the family's Piazza de Campovida restaurant and Stock Farm inn cook with produce from these same gardens, making the whole town feel like an extension of the farm.

The reborn Fetzer Valley Oaks estate, where organic wines pour beside 1890s barns and some of California's most famous gardens.
