About Cantara Cellars
Cantara Cellars anchors Camarillo Barrel Works, an 11,000-square-foot westside facility that is simultaneously a winery, the Flat Fish Brewing Company and the Cantara Distillery, with a full kitchen turning out barbecue, pizzas and wings. It is Ventura County's one-stop fermented-everything destination.
The winery itself began in 2002 as Mike and Chris Brown's home project in Moorpark, fermenting their first eighteen gallons from 250 pounds of Chardonnay off Mike's parents' Lodi vineyards; it opened to the public in 2005 and still specializes in Lodi-appellation fruit, an unusual and confident identity for a Southern California cellar.
With live music most Friday and Saturday nights, a 150-seat event space and hours that run into the evening Wednesday through Sunday, Cantara works as easily for a full night out as for a tasting flight.
