About Cedar Mountain Winery
Cedar Mountain Winery is named for the cedar tree — the aromatic conifer whose presence on the mountain terrain above the Livermore Valley gives the estate its topographic identity. Cedar trees in California's Coast Range foothills indicate the specific elevation and exposure where the conifer's preferred growing conditions exist: terrain sufficiently elevated and moisture-retaining to support the cedars' growth above the valley floor.
Established in 1990, Cedar Mountain is one of Livermore Valley's post-renewal founding wineries — part of the generation of estates that re-established Livermore as a serious wine region after the post-Prohibition decline. The Tesla Road estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Port-style wines from Livermore Valley estate and purchased vineyard sources.
Livermore Valley's history as one of California's most historically significant wine regions (Wente and Concannon established there in 1883 and 1883 respectively) makes Cedar Mountain part of a wine tradition that predates Napa's national reputation by decades.
