Clendenen Family Vineyards is the personal label of the late Jim Clendenen, the legendary founder of Au Bon Climat and one of the towering figures of Santa Barbara wine, who championed Burgundian balance in California decades before it was fashionable. The family label covered his most personal projects, estate plantings at Le Bon Climat and eclectic varieties from Nebbiolo to Teroldego, made at his famed Bien Nacido-adjacent winery.
Clendenen's 2021 passing was mourned across the wine world, and the wines remain a direct taste of his convictions: moderate alcohol, real acidity, food first. A founder's signature in the glass.
