About Coquelicot Estate Vineyard
Coquelicot Estate Vineyard is a certified-organic estate in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley, named for the vivid red poppy that dots the French countryside. The winery is the passion project of the Rosenson family, whose story traces back to European bakers who survived World War II and immigrated to the United States, carrying a legacy of craftsmanship into California wine.
Planted in 1997, the vineyard sits within the Los Olivos District AVA, farmed to CCOF organic and biodynamic standards. The family went fully organic in 2015, forgoing synthetic pesticides in favor of cover crops, beneficial insects, and hand-weeding, and keeps sulfites minimal while aging in mostly neutral French oak so the fruit speaks for itself.
The tasting room on Grand Avenue in Los Olivos anchors a garden setting with bocce and outdoor seating, pouring Bordeaux varietals alongside signature bottlings like the Rosé of Sangiovese. Open daily, it is a relaxed, dog-friendly stop that reflects the estate's minimalist, land-first philosophy.
