About Coquelicot Estate Vineyard
Coquelicot, named for the French word for the wild red poppy, is a certified-organic estate operation in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley: the vineyard has farmed sustainably and organically since 2007 and earned CCOF organic certification in 2015, and every wine comes from the family's own fruit.
The style is deliberately European: gracefully lower in alcohol, structured and elegant, made naturally without manipulation in the cellar. Bordeaux varieties lead, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc at the core, joined by favorites like a Riesling, a Rose of Sangiovese, a sparkling rose and the Mon Amour bottlings.
The tasting room sits on Grand Avenue in Los Olivos with one of the village's most serene garden courtyards behind it, shaded seating, bocce and a relaxed pace, open daily and popular for rehearsal dinners and garden events. It is an easy, dog-friendly stop on a walking day through town.
