Donkey & Goat Winery takes its name from the farmyard animal pair — the donkey and the goat, the working animals of Mediterranean agriculture whose combined stubbornness and versatility declare the estate's character. The donkey's legendary stubbornness and the goat's legendary independence become the winery's philosophy: wines made with the same stubbornness to natural principles and the same independence from conventional winemaking that the animal pair represents. The Berkeley 5th Street natural winery produces Roussanne, Pinot Gris, and Syrah from Sierra Foothills and other California estate vineyard sources with the farmyard-animal irreverence the naming implies.
