About Ehlers Estate
Ehlers Estate is a compact St. Helena property with a history that reaches back to the nineteenth century. The winery's scale creates an experience that feels personal and estate-focused rather than built for large visitor volume. Guests taste within a property where the vineyards, historic structures and current hospitality program remain closely connected.
The estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties along with selected white and rosé wines. The standard tasting presents current releases while the host explains the property's history, vineyard layout and winemaking approach. Limited wines such as the estate's 1886 bottling may appear in selected reservations, but visitors should not assume that every premium release is included in the entry experience.
The Estate Tasting is designed for parties of six or fewer and generally lasts 75 minutes. It includes a personal presentation and a short tour component when conditions allow. Ehlers also offers special culinary programs, including an off-site paired lunch at a local dining venue, as well as occasional events. These options should be booked and described separately from the normal estate visit.
Ehlers Lane is just north of St. Helena, providing a quieter country setting without a long mountain drive. The property's smaller scale is a strength for visitors who want direct conversation and fewer distractions. Weather and winery activity can change the tour route, so accessibility or mobility questions are best discussed before arrival.
Ehlers Estate is a good fit for couples, small adult groups and Cabernet drinkers seeking an intimate appointment. Confirm the exact tasting time, wines and tour access before arriving. The office is open daily, but that does not mean a tasting is available without a reservation. Culinary programs may take place away from the winery and should not be confused with on-site restaurant service.
Ehlers Estate is owned by the nonprofit Leducq Foundation, which directs wine-sale and tasting proceeds toward cardiovascular research.

"Wino Notion likes the personal scale of Ehlers Estate. The property has enough history and vineyard depth for a serious tasting, yet the six-guest limit keeps the experience conversational and approachable."
