About Ektimo Vineyards
Ektimo Vineyards is a modest, family-owned boutique winery tucked down a country lane in the Russian River Valley, between Forestville and Sebastopol. Its name is Greek for to appreciate, and that ethos runs through the place. April Xie owns and makes the wine alongside her father, Dominic; she holds a Wine MBA from Sonoma State and a winemaking certificate from UC Davis, and is a certified sommelier. Production is genuinely tiny, with lots ranging from as few as 50 cases up to a few hundred.
Despite that small scale, the wines punch well above their weight, collecting gold medals and high-90s scores. The lineup is broad for such a small producer: award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at its core, plus Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Petite Sirah, a rose of Pinot and even a sparkling, drawn from estate vines and contracted plots across the Russian River, Dry Creek and Carneros.
The tasting room leans rustic and unpretentious, a rural hideaway next to the Joe Rodota Trail where the idea is to slow down, bring a picnic and stay a while. It is open most of the week, with reservations appreciated but not required.
