About Ferrari Ranch Wines
Ferrari Ranch is a stop on the Corralitos Wine Trail, and the drive is part of it: through the gates and up to roughly 700 feet, where terraced heritage vines look out across the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Dave and Liz Ferrari bought the property in 2016 as a retreat from their Silicon Valley working life, then found themselves spending far more time there than planned. For the record, they are no relation to Ferrari-Carano, nor to the Italian marque, nor to the Italian sparkling house that shares the name.
The site is in the Corralitos corner of the appellation, where Pacific fog settles early and often. That mist pushes yields down and quality up, and the winery is straightforward that its job is to guide what the fog and the slope already decide.
Production is small-lot Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Rose from sustainably farmed heritage vines. Tastings are intimate ninety-minute affairs held outdoors above the vineyard rather than at a bar.
