About Fields Family Wines
Fields Family Wines began with a vineyard property Russ and Melinda Fields bought in 2005 and a partnership with winemaker Ryan Sherman, whose route into wine was largely self-taught. It has stayed deliberately small.
There is no resort framing here. The identity is built on hands-on production, limited lots, and the fact that the people making the wine are often the people pouring it.
The plantings and wider portfolio have included Syrah, Mourvedre, Tempranillo, Grenache Blanc and Vermentino, along with experimental and vineyard-designated releases. It is a more contemporary, less predictable side of Lodi than the old-vine Zinfandel the region is known for.
The setting is a working winery in warehouse-style space, which is worth knowing before you go: this is an informal tasting close to the production floor, not manicured grounds. Current published hours are daily, 11am to 5pm. Fees, reservations and group limits are worth confirming directly, particularly on event weekends.
