About Fingers Crossed
Fingers Crossed is the small, family-run label of Nik and Julia Krankl, launched in 2017 in the Ojai Valley. Nik is the son of Manfred Krankl of Sine Qua Non, and Fingers Crossed carries that lineage forward, down to the original artwork labels that change with every release, while charting its own course.
The wines are Rhone-based, built mostly on Syrah and Grenache from Santa Barbara County growers and made in a converted, fully outfitted garage in the town of Oak View. Nik and Julia call it their "stained hand approach," doing nearly all the work themselves and keeping production tiny, in the range of one to two thousand cases, to protect quality.
There is no public tasting room. The wines are released in small allocations, primarily through the mailing list, and have drawn strong reviews from critics including Jeb Dunnuck, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, and Antonio Galloni. Nik trained at Sine Qua Non and with Jim Binns of Andremily before launching the label, originally named Faethm, with Julia, a physician and author.
The next-generation Krankl label: tiny, Rhone-driven, mailing-list-only wines made by hand in an Oak View garage.

Red Wine
Syrah & Rhone Blends
The core of the range: Rhone-based reds built on Syrah and Grenache from Santa Barbara County, released under a new vintage name and hand-painted label each year. Rich, plush, and vibrant.
White Wine
Rhone White
A small-production white in the Sine Qua Non mold, textural and aromatic, made in tiny quantities alongside the reds.
Rose
Dry Rose
A dry rose made most years in very small amounts and allocated sparingly. It tends to sell out quickly.
