About Flying Goat Cellars
Flying Goat Cellars is the artisan label of winemaker Norm Yost, founded in 2000 and among the pioneering tenants of the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, a cluster of small-production wineries on the edge of the Sta. Rita Hills. The tasting room doubles as an art salon, hosting rotating exhibits alongside the wines.
The focus is elegant, age-worthy, vineyard-designated Pinot Noir sourced from some of Santa Barbara County's finest sites in the Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley, including Bien Nacido, Dierberg, and Rancho Santa Rosa. Production is small, around 2,000 cases a year, allowing hands-on winemaking.
Flying Goat is also known for Goat Bubbles, its lineup of methode champenoise sparkling wines, and helped launch one of the first sparkling wine clubs in Santa Barbara County. The relaxed, unpretentious tasting room reflects Yost's philosophy of serious wine without the fuss.
