About Florez Wines
Florez is a small Santa Cruz label working in what it calls a traditional, artisanal and elemental way, aimed at making wines with a distinct personality rather than a consistent house product.
The winery is direct that the fruit matters most, and that working with good vineyards farmed in harmony with their terroir is the foundation everything else rests on. Production is small and the practices deliberately meticulous.
Winemaker James Jelks is part of the low-intervention scene that grew up around Santa Cruz in the 2010s. He and Megan Bell of Margins Wine set up a shared winemaking facility together in Watsonville, the kind of co-operative arrangement that let several small natural-wine labels in this region get going without each building a cellar of its own.
There is no public tasting room and the winery publishes no street address, so the wines are found through the winery directly or through stockists rather than by visiting.
