About Fog Crest Vineyard
Fog Crest Vineyard is a second family chapter for the Balletto family of Balletto Vineyards. John and Lynda Balletto — whose truck farming and wine farming backgrounds established Balletto Vineyards as one of the Russian River Valley's most warmly regarded family estates — established Fog Crest as a separate project on a 66-acre Occidental Road property in the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley.
The Green Valley designation within the RRV is Sonoma County's most consistently fog-influenced wine sub-region — the morning marine layer that rolls in from the Bodega Bay coast rarely burns off before noon, creating growing conditions of extreme coolness that extend the growing season and produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of unusual freshness, bright acidity, and delicate floral aromatics.
The weekend walk-in tasting reflects the Balletto family's characteristic agricultural warmth and unpretentious hospitality — the same qualities that built the original Balletto Vineyards reputation, now applied to the 66 Green Valley acres that John and Lynda chose as their personal second project in the most distinctive fog-influenced corner of the Russian River Valley.
