About Fogline Vineyards

Fogline Vineyards is, in its founders' words, as much a concept as a winery. Launched in 2009 as a partnership between Brent Bessire and Evan Pontoriero, it is built around a single conviction captured in its name: that fruit grown above the fog line, high on Sonoma's mountains, makes more balanced and focused wine. The home vineyard sits near the top of Sonoma Mountain at around 900 feet, above the fog, where warmer nights and cooler days let the grapes ripen with freshness intact.

The lineup is small-lot and cool-climate: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Zinfandel, drawn from high-elevation sites across Sonoma County, including what is said to be the highest Syrah vineyard in the county, on Bradford Mountain in Dry Creek. The wines have collected double golds and strong notices.

Today Fogline pours at the Sugarloaf Wine Company in the Sonoma Valley, with indoor and outdoor seating and views. Walk-in tastings are available, and booking ahead lets you taste with the winemakers themselves for a more in-depth look at the wines, with a facility tour when possible.

A partnership built on high-elevation, above-the-fog fruit, pouring small-lot Sonoma Pinot, Syrah and Zin.
