About Folded Hills
Folded Hills is the Busch family's 600-acre working ranch, farm and winery on the Gaviota Coast, the first winery you reach heading north from Santa Barbara and the county vineyard closest to the ocean. Andy Busch, who fell for Santa Barbara captaining the US polo team at the 1998 World Cup, and his wife Kim carry on a family hospitality tradition that began when his father, August A. Busch Jr., opened Grant's Farm to the public in 1954.
The estate wines are Rhone-focused and grown organically, led by acclaimed Syrah and Grenache that have earned scores into the mid-90s, plus Viognier and the award-winning Lilly Rose, named for Andy's great-grandmother Lilly Anheuser. Around 15 acres of vines share the ranch with 18 acres of organic row crops, heritage fruit orchards, a polo field and a menagerie of animals.
The Homestead tasting room sits among the vines just off Highway 101, open daily, and across the street the Folded Hills Farmstead sells estate produce beside a pasture of Kunekune pigs and goats that guests can feed, with u-pick strawberries in summer and pumpkins in fall. A second tasting room in Montecito's lower village brings the ranch to town.
