About Fox Fire Farms
Fox Fire Farms is a winery on a Colorado Centennial farm near Ignacio, held by the same family for over a century across five generations. Set on a stunningly green 910-acre certified-organic livestock ranch between Durango and Pagosa Springs, it is the only commercial vineyard and winery in the area.
High elevation and cold temperatures are a challenge for grape growers, but at 6,500 feet those extremes yield memorable wines. Fox Fire specializes in cold-climate hybrid varieties, Marquette, Corot Noir, Marechal Foch, Traminette, Brianna, Petite Pearl, Aromella, and Vignoles, rounded out with Colorado-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, dry and semi-sweet Riesling, Rose, Pinot Noir, Muscat, and several fruit wines. The wines have collected top honors, including Best White for the Aromella at the 2025 Governor's Cup, a triple-gold Best of Show for the Marquette at the 2015 Colorado State Fair, and a Double Gold for the Traminette at the 2016 Governor's Cup. Beyond the tasting room, the farm offers picnics, a gift shop, a restored century-old one-room schoolhouse, and summer Friday Nights at Fox Fire with live music and food.
