About Hermosa Vineyards
Hermosa Vineyards is a cozy, family-owned winery in Palisade, in the Grand Valley AVA, where owner and winemaker Kenn Dunn crafts the finest wine he can from grapes grown in the high mountain desert of western Colorado. His stated goal is not to be the best-known winery, but one of the best.
Kenn purchased a second Palisade vineyard site in 2005 and planted it in 2006, and with two producing vineyards he added the tasting room in 2011. Everything is made in very limited quantities, and the small, wood-stove-warmed tasting room reflects the philosophy: no extravagance, no big sign, just precise wines. Reds lead the way, from Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec to a Signature Red, alongside a cherry dessert wine. Prices run a notch above the valley average, which regulars say the quality earns.
Hours, tasting fees, and reservation policies change with the season, so it is worth checking the winery's website or calling ahead before you visit, especially on weekends. The details on this profile may have shifted since publication, and the producer is always the most authoritative source.
Not the biggest winery, aiming instead to be one of the best.

Wines change with each vintage
Hermosa makes limited-production wines from grapes grown in the high mountain desert of western Colorado, with a lineup that leans red, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, a Signature Red, and a cherry dessert wine. Quantities are small and offerings rotate.

Intimate Tasting
Taste a focused flight with Kenn himself often behind the bar in a small, cozy tasting room warmed by a wood stove. These are premium, limited-production wines, priced accordingly, and the conversation about how they are made is part of the draw.
