About Gamble Estates
Tom Gamble's family has farmed in Napa Valley since 1916, when his grandfather Launcelot Gamble began cattle ranching there; Tom bought his first vineyard with partners in 1981 at age 20 and spent two decades selling grapes to other wineries before bottling his own first vintage in 2005. The winery, built in 2012, sits on the same Oakville land that holds the family's original farmhouse, barns, and water tower.
Gamble farms roughly 175 estate acres across Oakville, Mount Veeder, Rutherford, and Yountville, all certified Napa Green and Fish Friendly Farming. In February 2025, the winery, previously called Gamble Family Vineyards, rebranded as Gamble Estates to mark its 20th anniversary, with consultant Philippe Melka of Atelier Melka now guiding the winemaking.
