About Gemstone Vineyard
Gemstone Vineyard was founded in 1997 by Suzie and Paul Frank on a 17-acre property they purchased in 1992 after searching for rocky, bench-land soil with west-facing exposure. The estate sits in a narrow slice of the Yountville appellation bordering Oakville and the Stags Leap District.
Originally planted mostly to Chardonnay, the vineyard was replanted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon along with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Ownership has changed twice since founding, to tech executive Michael and Carole Marks in 2008, then to petroleum engineer and JDH Capital CEO Jason Rebrook in 2023, with winemaking led over the years by Philippe Melka, Thomas Brown and now Julian Fayard.
