About Grochau Cellars
Grochau Cellars, now also known as GC Wines, is a respected small Oregon winery founded in 2002 by John Grochau, a Portland native who came to winemaking after years in the city's restaurant world, including a long stint at Higgins. He learned the craft at Erath Winery and as Doug Tunnell's assistant at Brick House before starting his own label.
Based in the Eola-Amity Hills of the Willamette Valley, Grochau is known for honest, food-friendly, value-minded wines made with minimal handling and a 'resist the urge to do too much' philosophy. The lineup centers on Willamette Valley Pinot Noir along with Gamay, Pinot Blanc, Melon de Bourgogne and Albarino, sourced from sustainably and organically farmed vineyards across northern Oregon and beyond.
The winery pours at a tasting room in Amity (9360 SE Eola Hills Road) and a city tasting room in Portland on North Williams Avenue, and around 2022 it began operating under the GC Wines name.
