About Habit Wine Company
Habit Wine Company is the small-batch project of Jeff Fischer, a longtime voice actor best known for playing his namesake character on American Dad, who started making wine in a Los Angeles garage before founding Habit in Los Olivos in 2008 with just three barrels of red blend.
The style is deliberate: high-acid, lower-alcohol wines that showcase distinct varietal character. Cabernet Franc is the calling card, both varietally and in a Bordeaux blend built on Happy Canyon fruit, and the whites have earned national attention, including a dry Chenin Blanc from the old vines of Jurassic Park Vineyard named to the San Francisco Chronicle's Top 100, a Loire-styled Sauvignon Blanc aged on the lees in steel, and a Gruner Veltliner.
Sourcing stays hyper-local, from sustainably, organically and biodynamically farmed Santa Barbara County vineyards concentrated in Happy Canyon and the Los Olivos District. Tastings are offered through the Santa Barbara Wine Collective in the city's Funk Zone, so check current arrangements before you go.
