About Herman Story Wines
Herman Story is the cult project of winemaker Russell From, who started it in 2001 with just seven barrels as a tribute to his rancher grandfather. The wines are bold, opulent, structured Syrah and Grenache, drawn from top vineyards across the Central Coast, unapologetically big and full of personality, with playful, irreverent labels to match.
The tasting room is refreshingly no-frills, tucked into an industrial area just outside downtown Paso Robles, easy to overlook and well worth the detour. The vibe is welcoming and fun, the pours generous, and the focus squarely on the wine. For lovers of rich, high-impact reds with attitude, it is one of Paso's most rewarding stops.
