About Hoquetus Wine Co.
Hoquetus Wine Co. is a tiny Walla Walla, Washington winery founded in 2021 by winemaker and advanced sommelier Robert Gomez. The name comes from a medieval music device, also called a hocket, in which a melody is split between two alternating voices, a metaphor Gomez uses for the exchange between winemaker and fermentation.
Gomez focuses on Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Riesling, working almost entirely with Walla Walla Valley fruit and a lo-fi, minimal-intervention approach. In the summer of 2026 the winery moved its tasting room out of the Airport District incubator and into a speakeasy-style space above the wine bar Tavern Ancestrale downtown, entered through the alley.
The tasting room generally offers walk-ins on Friday and Saturday afternoons, with additional appointments across the weekend. Reservations are strongly recommended, and hours can change seasonally, so confirm with the winery before visiting.
