About Hossfeld Vineyards
Hossfeld Vineyards is a family-run vineyard and winery established in 1980 by Henry and Susan Hossfeld on a 57-acre hillside property at 1250 Loma Vista Drive, in the eastern hills of Napa Valley between the Stags Leap District and Atlas Peak, not on Howell Mountain. The family has weathered a phylloxera-driven replant in the early 1990s, Henry's death in 2009, and the 2017 wildfires, which destroyed roughly 75% of the vineyard and the family home before it was replanted in 2019.
The 21 planted acres sit on rocky volcanic rhyolite and andesite soil across eight blocks, farmed organically and CCOF-certified since 2019; grapes have historically been sold to producers including Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Pahlmeyer, and Shafer. Hossfeld began estate-bottling its own wine in 2014 under winemaker Chad McComber, releasing small lots, roughly 500-600 cases a year, of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and blends.
