About Hoopes Vineyard
Hoopes Vineyard traces to 1981, when Spencer Hoopes, a lawyer turned vintner, purchased a 10-acre vineyard in the southern end of Oakville. With help from winemaker Mitch Cosentino, Spencer released his first commercial Cabernet Sauvignon in 1999, and his daughter Lindsay Hoopes has directed the family business since 2013.
The estate's home vineyard sits off Yount Mill Road, straddling the Oakville and Yountville AVA boundary, and is planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon alongside small amounts of Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Visits now take place at Oasis by Hoopes, the family's tasting garden and rescue-animal sanctuary on Washington Street, rather than at the vineyard itself.
Hoopes' estate vineyard straddles the Oakville/Yountville AVA line, though tastings happen at the family's Oasis garden nearby.
