About JAX Vineyards
JAX Vineyards traces back to a 14-acre property near Calistoga at the northern end of Napa Valley, purchased in 1990 by David and Jane Jackson as a retirement and farming venture; the family began producing wine under the name Jackson Ridge in 1996 before rebranding as JAX, an abbreviation of the family surname. The winery is now run by siblings Kimberly and Trent Jackson alongside partner Dan Parrott, producing roughly 10,000 cases a year with winemaker Kirk Venge.
JAX makes two tiers: a Single Vineyard Collection of estate reds and Chardonnay from the dry-farmed Calistoga property, and the more casual 'Y3' line of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a red blend. Public tastings are not held at the Calistoga vineyard itself; instead, JAX operates a dedicated tasting room and event space at 326 Brannan Street in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood.
