JAX Vineyards takes its name from the founders' initials — JAX, compressed into a three-letter identity that is brief, distinctive, and easy to remember. The Rutherford estate operates one of the St. Helena Highway's most accessible daily walk-in tasting rooms, producing Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay at pricing designed for the wine-curious visitor rather than the collector.
The estate's Rutherford location puts it in the heart of Napa Valley's most Cabernet-famous appellation — the alluvial bench where multiple generations of Napa Cabernet winemakers have identified the mineral, iron-clay character that winemaker Robert Mondavi called 'Rutherford dust.' JAX's Cabernet comes from this same benchland sourcing at prices that make Rutherford quality accessible.
The Chardonnay program draws on Russian River Valley fruit — a different climate entirely from Napa's warmth, producing the cool-climate precision and natural acidity that the variety requires for genuine complexity.
