About Kaena Wine Company
Kaena is the aloha-spirited project of Mikael Sigouin, an Oahu native crowned the King of Grenache by his Santa Barbara peers. He landed his first harvest job at Beckmen Vineyards in 1999, three years to the day after leaving Honolulu, worked at Fess Parker, returned to Beckmen as head winemaker in 2006, and has poured everything into Kaena, founded in 2001 and his full-time devotion since 2014.
Grenache is the heart: vineyard-designate bottlings from Ballard Canyon sites like Tierra Alta, Larner and La Presa, in a roughly 2,000-case portfolio that also spans Syrah, Mourvedre, Sauvignon Blanc and more. Wine Spectator named Mikael among its most promising new Rhone producers back in 2006, and the wines have carried that promise since.
The flagship experience is Kaena at the Ranch on Highway 246 outside Solvang, open daily with vineyard and mountain views, cabana picnic experiences, and a family- and leashed-dog-friendly welcome, with a second tasting room on Grand Avenue in Los Olivos. Expect genuine Hawaiian hospitality with your Grenache.
