About Lago di Merlo
Lago di Merlo Vineyards and Winery is a family-owned estate in Geyserville, in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley. The Merlo family's roots in California wine go back generations, but the estate itself began when Harry Merlo Sr. acquired a vineyard near Geyserville in 1965 and delivered his first grapes to the Italian Swiss Colony winery.
Under later generations the family expanded the property to more than 200 acres, farming Dry Creek Valley fruit and both making its own wine and selling grapes to other wineries. The lineup leans Italian and Rhone in spirit, with Merlot, Zinfandel, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and whites such as Fiano and Chardonnay under the Lago di Merlo and Ca' Bella labels.
Rather than a standalone destination on the ranch, Lago di Merlo pours at the Family Wineries Tasting Room in Healdsburg, where visitors can taste across the family's range. Because tasting-room hours, fees and club details change over time, it is best to confirm current information before planning a visit.
