About MacPhail Family Wines

MacPhail Family Wines is one of Russian River Valley's most focused and critically acclaimed small Pinot Noir producers. Founded in 1999 by James MacPhail, whose winemaking career included stints at Kistler and other landmark California producers, the winery produces exclusively Pinot Noir from carefully selected RRV vineyard sites.

James MacPhail's approach is resolutely minimalist: native yeast fermentation, minimal additions, and extended time in barrel to allow each vineyard's character to fully emerge. The results, consistently 95+ point scores from critics, speak to the approach's effectiveness.

The Healdsburg tasting salon on Healdsburg Avenue gives visitors access to MacPhail's portfolio in a sophisticated downtown setting. The wines are rarely available at retail and primarily reach customers through the tasting room and mailing list.

At its Healdsburg, Sonoma County location, MacPhail Family Wines presents a featured lineup that includes Toulouse Vineyard Pinot Noir, Ferrington Vineyard Pinot Noir, Coastlands Vineyard Pinot Noir, and Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.

"James MacPhail's intensely focused Russian River Valley Pinot Noir program, minimal intervention, single-vineyard precision, and wines that regularly"
