About Malm Cellars

Malm Cellars is about as pure an one-man winery as Sonoma offers. Brendan Malm, who grew up in Southern California and headed north early to learn winemaking, does essentially everything himself: he helps farm the grapes, makes the wine, designs the distinctive robin's-egg-blue labels, and even delivers bottles to his accounts in his diesel pickup. It's seat-of-the-pants, hands-on winemaking in the best garagiste tradition.

The focus is small-lot Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, offered in both a regular and a reserve bottling, alongside a Sonoma County Chardonnay, all sourced from cool-climate vineyards and made in tiny quantities.

The tasting room is folded right into his urban warehouse winery near downtown Healdsburg, so a visit means tasting where the wine is actually made, and, more often than not, chatting with Brendan himself. It's low-key, personal and refreshingly free of pretense, a genuine chance to meet the person behind every bottle.

A pure one-man garagiste operation near Healdsburg, where Brendan Malm makes and pours small-lot Sonoma Coast Pinot himself.
