About Madonna Estate
Madonna Estate traces its roots to 1913, when Andrea Bartolucci emigrated from Italy's Emilia-Romagna region to Napa Valley; the family bought a 24-acre parcel near Oakville in 1922 and survived Prohibition by producing sacramental wine. The Bartoluccis relocated to Carneros in the 1970s and released their first modern Madonna Estate vintage in 1979.
The estate farms roughly 140 of its 160 acres on Duhig Road in the cool, bay-influenced Carneros AVA, certified organic through CCOF since 1991 and dry-farmed on established vines. Now in its fourth generation, the family grows Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, Muscat Canelli, Pinot Grigio, and the rare-for-Napa Dolcetto.
Madonna Estate has farmed its Carneros vineyard organically, without herbicides or pesticides, since gaining CCOF certification in 1991.
