About Maurice Car'rie Winery
Maurice Car'rie Winery, now operating as Ultimate Vineyards at Maurice Car'rie, is one of the founding estates of Temecula Valley wine country. The 91-acre property was originally planted in 1968, making it among the very first vineyards established in the region, and the winery was formally founded by Budd and Maurice Van Roekel in 1986. Today the estate is anchored by a picture-perfect Victorian-style farmhouse set against rolling hills, with over 70 acres of mature vines producing grapes for a portfolio that spans everything from semi-dry whites and sparkling wines to signature dessert wines and robust reds.
The winery is legendary for its baked brie in sourdough bread, a house specialty that has become one of the most iconic food items in all of Temecula wine country. Guests can enjoy the bread alongside a bottle on the spacious picnic grounds, where weekend craft vendors, live entertainment, and a welcoming atmosphere create a festive, fair-like energy. The tasting room offers complimentary samples and a full bistro-style menu, and the property hosts weddings and events in a setting that includes a historic barn and windmill dating to 1905. With its central location at the entrance to Rancho California Road, Maurice Car'rie remains one of the most accessible and beloved stops in the valley.
