About Mia Bea Wines
Mia Bea Wines is a small, family-owned winery on Madrone Lane in Redwood Valley, at the headwaters of the Russian River in Mendocino County. The label honors Pete and Beatriz Barra - Pete the son of an Italian immigrant farmer, Bea born in Mexico of Dutch descent - who spent decades growing premium wine grapes here. After Bea's passing, their daughters created Mia Bea (Italian for my Bea) as a family tribute, and now make wine from the vineyard the Barras farmed for more than sixty years.
The wines are small-lot and organically farmed, led by an unoaked, steel-fermented Chardonnay and a gold-medal Petite Sirah, alongside Pinot Noir and a Rose of Pinot Noir. The style aims for crisp, pure-fruit whites and approachable, food-friendly reds, and the wines have earned California State Fair medals and a loyal local following.
Mia Bea offers tastings by appointment at its Redwood Valley vineyard, with outdoor tastings, tours, a dog-friendly and picnic-friendly setting, and Harvest Hosts stays for RV travelers. Because it is a small family operation, it is best to call ahead to arrange a visit and confirm current details.
