About Mountain Terraces
Mountain Terraces is a premier high-elevation estate in the tiny Moon Mountain District, rising as high as 2,000 to 2,500 feet on the western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains above Sonoma Valley. The rugged property spans roughly 200 acres, with 50 acres of vineyards divided into some thirty distinct blocks, planted in volcanic Rhyolite and Andesite soils that, combined with abundant sun and balanced mountain temperatures, give the fruit long hang time and intense ripeness.
Sustainably farmed and made under the guidance of veteran Sonoma winemaker Steve Ledson using minimal-intervention techniques, the wines are powerful yet refined, mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon is the calling card, joined by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and a rocky-block Viognier, all structured and beautifully age-worthy.
A visit is as much about the setting as the wine: guided excursions up to the terraces reward guests with breathtaking panoramas stretching across the Moon Mountain District to San Francisco Bay. Tastings are by reservation, and overnight stays on the property are available for those who want to wake up among the vines.
